At the hint of the next seasons turn,

I catch myself in the middle of emotion.

I feel like grasping at what just was and have a desperate wish,

To know that I gave it enough.

Did we eat enough ice cream?

Did we have enough swims?

Did I facilitate magic for my children,

Sowing memories that will fuel their smiles,

And desire to return home to me,

In the distant future.

My challenge and my joy,

Become witnessing as many moments as I can,

While they unfold before me.

To notice the sun sparkling through the golden maple leaves.

To feel the crisp air as a gentle breeze against my skin.

To take part in the delightful events that punctuate each season.
